Overstay fines
If you stay in the UAE after your grace period ends, ICP charges a fine of AED 50 for each day. Cabinet Resolution 65 of 2022 caps the daily fine at AED 100 and starts counting the day after your permitted stay ends. You can check outstanding fines through ICP's smart services or, in Dubai, GDRFA's fines inquiry.

| Staying after a residence visa expires or is cancelled (after the grace period) | AED 50 per day | ICP[source] |
| Legal maximum for illegal stay | AED 100 per day | Cabinet Resolution 65/2022, Art. 64(1)[source] |

ICP's wording is "A fine of AED 50 per day is applied for staying in the UAE after the visa expires or is cancelled."[source] How long you may stay before that depends on your category: see grace period after visa cancellation.
Example at the current ICP rate: 10 days past the end of your grace period is 10 × AED 50 = AED 500.

We have not read an official fee schedule for overstays on visit or tourist visas, or any fee charged on departure, so this page does not list them. They will be added once checked against ICP or GDRFA.
Staying without a valid permit
The fine is not the only risk. Under Article 65 of the regulation, ICP may order deportation of a foreigner "If he does not have Entry Visa or Residence Permit".[source]
Checking your fines

- Dubai: GDRFA runs its own fines inquiry service.[source] (partly verified) gdrfad.gov.ae fines inquiry
Dubai and Abu Dhabi
ICP's AED 50 rate and the regulation's maximum of AED 100 per day are federal. We found no different rate published for Dubai or Abu Dhabi. The difference is where you check: Dubai has GDRFA's inquiry service in addition to ICP.
